A $150 000 subvention from the Government of Quebec
Minister of Families, Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports and Minister responsible for the Gaspésie—Îles-de-la-Madeleine region, Mr. Sébastien Proulx, and the member of parliament for Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Mr. Germain Chevarie, announced, on behalf of the Deputee-premier of Quebec, Minister responsible for Small and Medium Enterprises, Regulatory Streamlining and Regional Economic Development, Minister responsible for the Status of Women, Mme Lise Thériault, the allocation of $150 000 to OSM Atlantique from the Fonds d’aide aux initiatives régionales (FAIR.) This amount will support an investment project of $2 761 700, which will create 12 jobs in the region.

OSM Atlantic design and operate a range of precision machining engines on the cutting edge of technology intended for diesel engines. These engines are used in commercial and cruise ships, as well as thermal power diesel engines generating stations in remote areas of the planet. The business’ project consists of establishing a repair workshop in Cap-aux-Meules for diesel engine pieces.

The FAIR supports economic and tourism development in the region Gaspésie Îles‑de‑la‑Madeleine in order to promote employment creation and growth. Supported projects have as objective the improvement of competitiveness and increased production of value-added goods.
